On October 6, 2026, Stereau attended the groundbreaking ceremony for upgrades to the Vauguières-le-Bas drinking water treatment plant in Mauguio, alongside the Pays de l’Or urban community, the Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole water utility, elected officials, and project partners.
As lead contractor for Lot 1, covering treatment processes and improvements to the existing plant, Stereau is working with consortium partners Rivasi BTP, TP Sud, and JP Industrie, part of the Eliène Group. The consortium is supporting the Pays de l’Or urban community in modernizing its facilities to ensure reliable drinking water production and improve performance.
A More Reliable and Resource-Efficient Treatment Process
The consortium’s scope includes upgrading the treatment process, improving backwash water recycling, and optimizing energy consumption. It also includes installing a pumping system to supply the future storage tanks.
These upgrades serve two goals: enhancing equipment reliability and optimizing water and energy use in day-to-day operations.
Construction While the Plant Remains Operational
La continuité de la production d’eau potable constitue une exigence centrale du chantier. Les interventions seront organisées pour permettre la coactivité entre les travaux et l’exploitation, tout en assurant la sécurité des équipes.
Maintaining drinking water production throughout construction is a key project requirement. Work will be organized to allow construction and plant operations to proceed simultaneously while ensuring the safety of all teams.
